LTE and Fixed Wireless Operators
Baicells helps Operators reduce time to market and get ready for 5G
Baicells Technologies, Qubee Pakistan and Intel officially released whitepaper for the Fixed Wireless Access (“FWA”) Market. Titled ”Transforming the Fixed Wireless Access market with FlexRAN based Small Cell solutions”, the whitepaper explores the various business and technical challenges of FWA operators evaluating the use of LTE and how they can leverage solutions from Baicells to speed their time to market and prepare for the future of 5G.
FWA industry is embarking on a network transformation. To accomplish this transformation, many operators are embracing LTE as the new de facto standard as it is the only globally accepted standard with a broad eco-system and a clear roadmap to 5G.
However, given that LTE is primarily designed for mobile network requirements, it poses several business challenges for FWA operators including unnecessary system purchasing overhead and financial risks such as the costs to acquire new spectrum for the enterprise. This resulted in certain FWA operators slowing down their transition to LTE while many abandoned LTE and switched to proprietary WiFi solutions despite the lack of an evolutionary roadmap of the later.
Given the market requirements and the need for an adaptable design, Baicells developed the LTE small cells solution based on Intel’s FlexRAN reference design and optimized it for FWA services that removes both technical and commercial barriers and will pave the way for business success for FWA operators and wireless ISPs. The open architecture also enables operators to prepare for future technologies including 5G.
Qubee Pakistan, a professional FWA operators, has deployed Baicells’ solution to transform WiMAX to LTE. “Baicells’ accessible LTE solutions will enable us not only provide better FWA service, but also to potentially offer better mobility service. We believe that this solution will provide better user experience in the short term while guaranteeing us long term business success,” explained Mr. Jamal Nasir Khan, CEO of Qubee Pakistan.
